Collecting stream hydrological data before and after the construction of Kaoping river dam

Collecting relevant data on Kaoping river bed geology including parameters such as distribution, density, porosity and hydrological transportation coefficient, etc.

Collecting annual cross-sectional area variations of Kaoping river for evaluating the sedimentation depth.

Observing well and river water elevations and before and after dam construction to estimate river channel infiltration quantity.

Using the estimated river channel infiltration quantities before and after dam construction to perform groundwater elevation simulation for understanding the infiltration water direction and its influence on ground subsidence.


Inventorying well and annual pumping rate for Chiayi Hsien and Kaohsiung Hsien.


The five investigating regions include Tungshi Village, Budai Township in Chiayi Hsien, Hulei Village, Gangshan Township and Yentsao Village in Kaohsiung Hsien.  The investigating steps are as listed in the follows:


Collecting relevant information on the inventorying regions.

Collecting essential information on the inventorying regions

Compiling and planning well inventory tables.

Inventorying and locating well distribution

Sponsoring workshop on the processes for personnel involved in investigating well inventory

On-site well inventory including agricultural water usage, water supply and industrial water supply.

The investigating items include well loction, well diameter, well pump horsepower,well water depth and the well user information

Using on-site tested flow rate to calculate the unit yield and power consumption; the on-site tested flow rate is combined with well data for estimating the groundwater pumping rate.

Integrating GPS data with GIS data to be displayed information graphically.

Establishing GIS system to be used by Water Resources Agency, MOEA for linking, inquiring, spatial analyzing and displaying information.


Re-overlaying well data collected on Sanjing Villate in Tainan Hsien and estimating the pumping rate.


The three investigating regions include Beimen Village, Jiangjun Vilate and Chigu Village in Tainan Hsien.  The following are the estimating procedures:

Collecting the groundwater data compiled by NCKU Research and Development Foundation in carrying out the 1999 funded research project.

Re-establish GIS database
Establishing digital files on well investigation information
GIS graphics

Using on-site tested flow rate to calculate the unit yield and power consumption; the on-site tested flow rate is combined with well data for estimating the groundwater pumping rate.

Establishing GIS system to be used by Water Resources Agency, MOEA  for linking, inquiring, spatial analyzing and displaying information.
